Weekly Update #4

Man, a timely update, would ya look at that!

Finally things settled down a little bit, which means I'll get my first free weekend in a while! Goddamn do I need it.

Games

More progress in Hollow Knight!

Hollow Knight Spoilers We found and defeated the Soul Master boss, after A LOT LOT of swearing! It does feel like we have ended the tutorial. Then we got our asses kicked mercilessly by the Dream Warrior we found last week and decided to skip in favout of City of Tears. Man I can FEEL the swaers leaving our bodies. Hype.

On a sad note, the wireless gamepad does not map properly to Hollow Knight, and Steam Input is not helping, maybe it is because it's a GOG game? I have to look into it.

Certified Linux MomentsTM

I have an old(ish) GPU on my PC at home, and the NVIDIA driver is not playing nice under Kubuntu with the latest kernel update (6.14). For now I'm borrowing time booting with the 6.11 one, which apparently is not supposed to work but it does. A Friend of mine tells me that the driver works under Arch, but i do not know if i have it in me to try Arch again. We'll see. Maybe I'll just buy a new(ish) GPU compatible with my mobo for my birthday.

Listening

Finally managed to listen to Tubular Bells in full! For some reason never actually managed to do it. It still isn't my favourite Oldfield work, but it's better than i made it to be in my head.

I keep on inching towards getting a physical copy of Death's Sound of Perseverance, man it is so. damn. good.

I also got Pantera's The Great Southern Trendkill from a record store, really happy about it. It's such a good record. Just remember to turn down the volume in the car a bit when you put it on.

While burning some cds for my S.O. to listen in the car we relistened to some Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails, which are always nice.

Also got in a bit of a Maynard bend with some TOOL, A Perfect Circle and Pushifer.

I also discovered Voland! A nice Folk/Symphonic Black Metal band from Italy, combining italian, russian and english lyrics above folk-inspired tracks, with anti-war and anti-fascist lyrics. Great stuff.

Watching

Couple of episodes of Fringe, we keep ever so slowly progressing through the series.
