Weekly Update #3 - The double special
Bruh, last week was so full I ended up skipping a weekly update, so here is a double special, hoping I never have to do another one. Not for deadlines or anything, but because it means I had too much to do lmao.
Still managed to go on a half-day trip with my Significant Other and friends. We found a music store! And bought records! Buying records is nice! More on that in Listening.
Games
Despite everything we managed to progress in Hollow Knight!

Reading
Books
B R U H.
- Dan Simmons - The Fall of Hyperion
Am a lot behind schedule for this one, not much to say. It's a good book. I still want to punch Simmons in the face. But until now I'd even say it's less insufferable than the first book.

Questionable Content
Yeah, I dunno about the zapping storylines, but I'm enjoying both. Poor Ahn, good job Ahn. Also poor Zlata, even if for different reasons.Dumbing of Age
Bruh. No, I'm sorry. This ain't it. Unless it comes crashing down in classic DoA fashion. But even then, this shoulda been handled better imho. I don't like it. Spoilers below, for the imaginary reader:Dumbing of Age Spoilers
Like, the protest backdrop is kinda distasteful, for the Dorothy/Joyce ship to sail. It could have been such a great opportunity for talking about this kind of stuff. I know the protest is the thread that connects Carla/Charlie storyline to Dorothy/Joyce one, but while the Carla one sets a grim moral dilemma (funny that it's being published in parallel with QC), it feels really out of place for D/J. Maybe after three months of slow-burn crescendo where both Joyce and Dorothy get involved in the protest it might have made sense, but like this it feels... hollow, rushed and disappointing. Both from a narration standpoint and for the character development. Even if it's a setup for a Fall, the narrative tone feels off to me. Also, tf is this crackship. No, just no.
Listening
At the aforementioned record store we got a total of 5 records! I got Songs of Love and Hate by Godflesh, a nice industrial metal records. Apparently It's regarded as the "most accessible Godflesh record", to which i kinda agree. Lotta '90s chugga chugga guitars and belt out vocals. Pretty nice. Also snagged Mesmerize by System of a Down, which really needs no introduction. Always wanted a physical copy. Now on to finding an Hypnotize one. My S.O. got three TOOL records! Very nice! Undertow, AENIMA and Opiate.
Mike Oldfield keeps on being in rotation, and we had the obligatory Black Sabbath/Ozzy Osbourne marathon this Wednesday.
War Pigs was, is, and always will be relevant.
Notable Earworms this week were Day 7: Hope by Ayreon and MaroMaro's cover of Dragostea Din Tei, godDAMN that's good!
Watching
Just a couple of Nadia and the Secret of the Blue Water episode, unfortunately. Pretty fun. This series is slow but very, very nice.
