Weekly Update #1
Guess I'll try to keep track of time without DOXXing myself. So I'll keep the IRL at minimum? We'll see how it goes.
Doing
I started this blog! We'll see how long I manage to keep it on. Hopefully for a long time. It was weird writing again and not let thoughts float and drown in my mind as I have done for so many years.
It's been surprisingly hard, writing stuff that people MAY read has forced me to rethink and analyze stuff I was almost certain about. Maybe this will help me get the discipline not to just hurry and finish stuff to get it off my back.
I have been playing a fair share of Hollow Knight with my Significant Other and have picked up Star of Providence again. I am a bit (a lot) rusty.
Aside from this I have mostly been working and working out, so not much to say.
Reading
Books
Stephen King - IT
This is the second try at reading this book, and I am actually liking it so far. I am still at the start and stuff still has to happen, but King's writing in this one is nice. Maybe I won't drop it like i did with The Dark Tower's first book.Dan Simmons - The Fall of Hyperion
I am reading this for a reading group, and... eeeeh. Simmons is a good writer, but god do i want to punch him in the face.
I also want to pick up again Bllod Meridian but two things are stopping me:
- I'd have to start from the beginning since I don't remember anything, and it's not an easy read,
- I'm already reading too much stuff, maybe once I'm done with IT.
Comics
Manga
- Ichi the Witch [chapter 40]
God this manga was such anice surprise. Each chapter is such bliss, even in transition chapters following the end of an arc like this one. Looking forward to where the plot will go. - Isekai Samurai [chapter 36]
Seems like we are in a weird little filler arc following the whole battle in the town. Kinda eeeh compared to the absolute cinema that was, but we'll see how it goes. Can't all be bangers. - Kumo Desu Ga, Nani Ka? [chapter 75.2]
Hahaha what a stupid plot twist. Absolute genius. The only problem is that the author keeps on not being able to draw humas, which has been a problem ever since the focus shifted from Elro's Labirinth. - Juujika no Rokunin [chapter 214]
God this manga is such shit. It's my hate read of the week. Edgy, unsubstantial and nonsensical. Please be over soon. - Chainsaw Man [chapter 207]
Fun battle chapter, not much to say. Best crackship keeps on giving tho. - Kengan Omega [chapter 313]
Fun chapter, I am surprisingly invested in the story. Not much to say that wouldn't be massive spoilers.
Webcomics
- Questionable Content
I would have preferred Jeph to keep on focusing on Cubetown, but the Ahn story so far shows promise. - Dumbing of Age
Well! The story is surely taking a turn. - I Was Born to Work Retail
I remembered today of this one and caught up with the updates. God it is so good and painful. HUGE recommend.
Listening
I am once again in a Have A Nice Life loop. I want eventually to write a piece about them. Deathconsciousness and The Innatural World are certified classics. I am a bit warm about the third release, Sea of Worry, which is still really good.
I also went on an embarrassing bender with 883's Con un Deca.
Highlights of this week's music rotation at work are Mike Oldfield and Pink Floyd, good stuff. We have also re-listened to a lot of metal this week, most notably ... And Justice for All and Master of Puppets, which my hipster ass usually shuns, but god do they hold up to the test of time. Also some Power Metal, having talked with a colleague about how not all Metal not being sad, and then putting on some Helloween records. This has also brought me to finally listen to Avantasia, which has been a pleasant surprise.
Watching
TV Shows
Currently I'm watching the 1st season of Fringe (2008) with my Significant Other, and up 'till now it's been really good.
Anime
We're watching Nadia of the Blue Water and so far it's very enjoyable. Still early(ish) in the plot, at episode 9 of 39.
