Cooking Diary #4 - Miso Beef with onions and carrots over rice
This is a recipe I hacked together from a couple of youtube videos, substituting missing ingredients with other on hand.
Ingredients:
- Thinly cut beef (150-200 g per person)
- Yellow Onions, cut to strips (1 per person)
- Carrots, cut to strips (1 per person)
- Ketchup (Eyeballed)
- Soy sauce (Eyeballed)
- Hot paprika, ground cumin, garlic powder, ground ginger (Eyeballed)
- Whatever you want to throw in it, really
- Corn starch + water slurry
heat up some seed oil (1.5 table spoon per person), and fry the spices for a couple seconds. DO NOT BURN THEM.
Quickly throw in the onions and carrots. After a bit of sauteeing, add ketchup and soy sauce.
Cook for a bit and when the veggies are almost to your desired consistency, then throw in the beef. This time I had frozen beef so I added some water to help steam and thaw the beef, but with room temperature you probably don't need it.
Adjust spices, ketchup and soy sauce accordingly, and when almost ready add the corn starch + water slurry to thicken up.
Serve over rice and enjoy!
